I was shooting my M1911 and about 8 rds in to shooting I had a psssstt! A wisp of smoke came from the breech. No recoil, no noise....Uh oh, I know what that means. I unload and find a lead round nose about 2" from the end of the barrel. Glad I caught it....I tapped it out with a steel rod and went on to shoot another 13 rds when I started to think.....
I have a progressive loader so tw0 things happened...I somehow forgot to hit the powder drop, or the powder bridged and one case got about zero, and MAYBE....Maybe another got a double charge.
The former is the most likely, but being wrong on this could cost me a barrel, or gun, or cause injury.
Now obviosly the double charge IF THERE was one was not in the first eight or the following 13.
That could mean there is a problem in one of the remaining 29 cartridges. My gun is not worth the risk or chance. I took the ammo home to be pulled and reloaded. That was my first squib probably in 20 years.
