Yesterday I had a friend come out to the property to try out his 'new' used Makarov. He lives in a town 20 miles away, and thru a guy he has coffee with met an aquaintance of this guy and made a deal to trade him a Makarov for one of his rifles. My friend really lost on the deal, but he wanted a larger sized .380 and had no use for his rifle. The deal was finalized at my friends house about a month ago. He got a phone number from the guy, and a name.Well, the Makarov did not fire, and when we inspected it, it had no firing pin. My friend was pissed! Last night he tried calling the number several times and no one picked up, and he received a "no mailbox has been set up message." According to him his coffee friend, does not know where the aquaintance lives, but will try to find out. Now a firing pin is not expensive, and it looks like an easy install. The situation though has my friend thoroughly pissed and I don't blame him. I am sure it will work out somehow, either buy finally making contact or by buying a pin and having it installed.
One never really knows what you get in these type of deals.
