Story goes, I have Egyptian Hakim, 8mm, that I bought a while ago, through GB.
Didn't know the rear sight had elevation tabs removed, welded in place and tapped for a scope.
Someone volunteered to check the accuracy of the "fixed sight", ladder still there.
He said he had surplus rifle so I said sure but clean it good when your done and return it to me.
Was told it was a little high at 100 yards but GREAT shooter.
I checked the rifle looked clean, smelled of Hoppes, action was super clean - Great!
It was a bit and I pulled it out the Hakim to see what I can do with the rear sight, maybe sell it.
Saw light surface rust in the chamber, came out with a quick rub.
So I checked the barrel - CRAP! - rust and pitting.
Got an apology but the friend told me Hoppes was made for cleaning corrosive ammo.
He said never had a problem and pointed out where it says Hoppes for corrosive ammo.
Will be scrubbing it out this weekend, is there anything else I can do at this point?
I try other people's weapons, so I don't want to stop loaning them out.
Really don't want to do second cleanings.
Shooting together is impractical some times.
More than kinda sucks!
