I am wondering if anyone here has done anything with that cartridge, and might comment on it. A number of Jap 6.5s were converted to it once upon a time. I'm building mine on a Savage action. Barrel is being made now by Douglas. I plan on building my own stock from stainless steel mainly.

Posts: 1167 Oct 23 10 5:36 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Yes, the 6.5X57 is very close to the 6.5X257. Douglas did not offer that chambering and the differences are small. I imagine they are identical in so far as ballistics are concerned. It looks like the Roberts version has a slightly sharper shoulder and slightly longer neck. The Roberts version is actually identical to a 7X57 except for the neck diameter. A 7X57 neck sized to 257 would be a 257 Roberts. This works pretty well for me, since I can neck size it with my current 260 Remington dies, and I can full length size it with my Wilson full length 7X57 die. I don't have to buy dies. The standard Roberts case will accept a boat tail bullet upon seating also with no problem. All in all a very compatible round for what I am doing. Long range ballistics should be very good. Over a 1000 yards this round is actually flatter shooting than a 300 Winchester magnum. It should make a great long range round.
