I have just recently acquired a match grade M1 Garand Rifle and would like to make my own handloads for it. From all that I have read, the rifle was set up
for M2 ball ammunition and thus all handloads should be close to this standardized load. I am fairly new to reloading and I would like to know if anyone out
there knows of a reference for handloading for the M1 or has a handload that works particularly well for the M1. That said, I already have a sizable quanity
of IMR-4895 powder, virgin brass and around 400 Nosler Custom Competetion .30 caliber 155 grain bullets. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

A load of 47-49 grains of the IMR 4895 with that bullet should be good. I like the 165-173 grain bullet with 45.5 grains. One has to fine tune the loads you
choose to see what powder charge is best.

Thank You for you help. I have an additional question: do you really need to use the military CCI #34 primers? All the references I have seen so far recomend
using them; I only have Winchester large rifle primers on hand. The #34 primers are real hard to come by right now, I have some on back order but who knows
when they will be able to be shipped to me.

I am a fan of CCI BR-2 primers for super accurate loading. I just got some at Basspro, but I went in person.

The requirement for those primers were to prevent slamfires when primers with a soft cup were used. I believe the Winchester are GTG as are CCI. The federal
primers were the softest primers and not good to use in semi-auto rifles with a floating firing pin.
