i will be replacing the reciever with a 1918gew. i had been saving this reciever for something "speical" so this is it. redo the stock and of course fix all of the goofs and missing parts. i have hopes this trigger guad will clean up into a nice sporter guard. i may even try a hinged floorplate. back when arky started his trigger guard i got to thinking on making one. my problem has been a suitable latching mechanism, i can do the hinge fine its the latch thats held me back. over a couple of hours of thinking it over i came up with a too simple latch, nothing more than one peice of metal. i may give the leaf spring idea a try on this or do something more ornate. i wish i could do dons latches but i try to stay with things i know i cant mess up. i have several aluminum remington buttplates, but they have rounded front sides, means i will have to make the butt rounded to fit the plates. i tried this on the tiger maple stock and it didnt come out as well as i had hoped. no doubt it will get a bold trigger at some point, if it really turns out well and shoots equaly will get a sporter shrould too. if i have to ream the chamber i will get an improved reamer, again doing something different with this gun.
if bought new the stock is worth no less than $95, the barrel if new and an adams&bennett would go for $90. got to love those $50 parts guns.
i shall add pics soon.
