No7 Bayo question

They have those typical red-brown grips...but now I can buy an exemple with black grips. I can't find any information about these black grips... so I hope somebody on this forum can help me with it. The seller told me it is an experimental one..but is it?? Or is it a commercial version??? When did they made the first No7's?? After WWII or also during the last period of it??? Greetzz Bert

This is quite credible as Guards, RN and bands in full ceremonial dress have since WW2 carried dress bayonets with black grips - the No7, No5, L1A2/3/etc and now the current SA80 type.

Posts: 310 (09/17/09 3:42 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	the bayonet was produced in both red and black , i cant quote quantity but the black are less seen , i dont think the 'ceremonial' nor the 'experimental' will be verifieable but ive not got 'all' of the referance books eather , my understanding from my referances is that the black was from a diferent vendor but met the spec , 'paxolin' treated fabric was accepted as a substitute for bakelite , but there is also mention of 'nestorite A.758' , streetly mfgr suplied them as did james ferguson & sons and ault & wilborg , with regaurd to the ceremonial use , my understanding is these were issued for that purpose , but these were not well recieved nor wel accepted http://steyrmannlicher.yuku.com/directory "the original yesterdays weapons"
