Gun Show Madness |

Has anybody else noticed how prices at the gun shows have gone up since B. Hussein Obama was elected? The AK clone that was $389 last year is almost $700 now.
AR's have increased 30% to 50%, M-1 Carbines that should be selling for $450 to $500 are priced at $700 or more. The $3.95 box of non-descript 7.62X39 is
now $10.95 and the branded stuff is even higher. Obama won't have to do anything to get rid of the gun shows, the dealers are doing it for him by trying
to gouge the buying public.

I paid just over $400 for my RPK last year, now I have seen them going for nearly $1000.

I agree about the gouging. I know the supply is short, and demand is high, but the pricing is out of line. On another page I talked about stopping at my local
shop Saturday. They have BUNCHES of guns. One of the largest stocking dealers in Maryland. They only had half the normal supply of used rifles, and only a half
dozen of them were under $1000.00.......................yep. A bunch of used rifles over the $1K mark...............SCARY.
Makes me realize how rich I am with that safe full of Mausers, Enfields, and so on.........................

I recently attended a gun show in York, Pa. The prices were sky high and this was the most crowded gun show I have ever attended. It was so crowded that I did
not have a good time.

I used to enjoy gunshows but I haven't been to one in over a year and doubt I'll ever go to one again the 1903 Springfield with the $3000 price tag
triggered something in my brain

It has been several years since I attended one. The fun has pretty much gone for me. I am content wheeling and dealing with friends here on the forum, and an
occassional trip to the auction sites.

Gents,
I have been noticing this at shows for years. The other day I remarked to a local gun store owner that the prices he had on some of his original Springfield M1873s were reasonable compared to what I had seen at shows. He said "I am running a business. I am trying to sell them." Those guys at the shows with their overpriced "treasures" wil find the suckers that will justify their counter productive pricing strategy, sorry to say. TexasEd |

I learned a long time ago that if I wanted to try and get a good deal at a gun show for a c & r firearm, I would only get it by having something to trade
(hopefully without adding any cash to the deal). I just inflate the value of my "trading goods" to the level of the item(s) I might want at the gun
show. I found that it works most of the time; if not, I just walk away rather than paying some ridiculous price.

I have found good deals at gun shows, but they are few and far between. There are two or three dealers who are reasonable and do a great business. I always
check out there stuff. They normally bring in crates of rifles and by the end of the show, they have sold most of it. A lot of other dealers keep hauling there
stuff back at the end of the show.

Only decent buy I've ever made at a gun show was a 15 years ago when I first got into Swedes. Paid $108 for a 1918 vintage 96, all matching. Sold it 2
years ago for $350.

Three or 4 years ago This one dealer was selling Turk Mausers, that were never used after the Turks re-arsenal them. He was selling them for $100 each. From
the proofs that were left over, they started out as Czech '98. I bought teo of them.

They could be VZ22's I have always called them Model 22, never heard them as VZ22. Czech GEW '98 is probably a most accurate term.
