Hello all! Got a hold of what seems to be a Vetterli M1871 (s/n 144143), manufactured by Waffenfabrik BERN, with the number 1878 stamped on the barrel
(production year?). Unfortunately, it's a beater, with the forestock, tubular magazine and cleaning rod missing (nothing under butt plate). Further, the
bolt is stuck in the open position and I have been reluctant to take anything apart since I'd never seen one of these babies before and do not know what to
expect.
