Swede target sights? |
Lead | |
|
I looked at an M96 the other day that had an aperture sight with a name I was not familiar with. If I read it right it was a Traff, B(?). It used the stock
front sight blade if I remember correctly. I actually went to look at some .22 rifles and saw this. The other Swedes they had that had aperture sights
installed had Elit sights and most had a front apertures too.
Does anyone have any info on these? Jim NRA Life Member Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... After searching I managed to find a reference to a Swede for sale. I will paste the descriptiom below. Is it possible that it is a Soderin sight? This is the
only reference I can find.

Soderin | ||

Yes , it is marked on the opposite side , M/Soderin . These were the most common diopters used by the Swedes . I do not now if that means they were the best or
the cheapest ? Personally , I like the Elit , but I have more target rifles with the Soderin sight . There were any number of various front sight blades or
globe sights used .

I checked the adjustments and the clicks were crisp and positive and the sight moved easily, so it's probably in good shape.
This M96 was priced at $585.00. They have some GC 63s with Elit sights for $799.99. They have a few other Swedes in various condition for $300.00 up. I may get the swede with the Soderin sight. Are the front globes hard to find? I would like to have it instead of the front blade, but it will work as is. They also have some Schultz and Larson .22 rifles for about $350.00, but they might be missing some parts. They also have some soviet CM2 rifles- but at $399.99 I will pass. The .22s are what I went in there for. Jim NRA Life Member Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Swede Front Sight | ||
|
Swede front sights with one insert can be found on EBAY , GunBroker or Auction Arms for $50 plus or minus . Biggest problem is finding extra aperture inserts
of differant sizes . Brownells has some inserts , but not for every swede front sight ( about $20 ) . The best front sight going is the Elite , but they sell
in the $50/$100 range . Inserts are even harder to find for these ( none at Brownells ) .

I just need to figure out if an M96 with a Soderin sight is worth $585.00.

I paid 355.00 shipped and hand selected at SARCO for my m/96 Marksman Target Rifle with a Soderin rear sight. Mine is all matching with what I believe to be
all original issued parts and in 90% condition. You might want to check out what some of the dealers have for sell.
Here's one, http://www.allans-armory.com/. Unfortunately his sight is down for a little while but I think he's had some nice rifles for sale lately..Jim

I looked on the Sarco site. They list a Swede 6.5x55 target rifle built on a 98k Mauser action.
They also have some very interesting .22 target rifles. Jim NRA Life Member Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...
