I am new to sporterizing Mausers. I am working on a 24/47 now that I plan to rebarrel to 22-250 using a Adams & Bennett barrel that I got from Midway. I have welded on a new bolt handle, removed the charger hump and drilled & tapped for a 1 piece scope mount. I plan to use a Bold trigger with safety. What else, if anything, should I do to it in order to come out with a good looking and accurate rifle. On another forum I read where someone suggested welding up the U shaped cutout on the left side that your thumb goes in when using a stripper clip. I have the welding skills to do this but it seems like a lot of work! Do any of you do it? What other things would you recommend in order to do a good job? Thanks.
