I need to know about its manufacture, country of origin, etc. The head stamp reads as follows: 7.9 (vertical line), F.S (vertical line), 1951 (vertical line) and TõC (vertical line. I've gleanrd that it's 7.92 Mauser, made in 1951 but the rest eludes me. Since it's '51 dated I'm sure it's corrosive but, can anyone shed any light on the country of origin? The 7.9 is the caliber, 7.9(2) Mauser, aka 8mm Mauser. It's clean, 70 rounds are on strippes in an OD bandolier. Since I'm sure it's corrosive and the local range prohibits hardball on the rifle range, I'll just save it for "other uses". Thanks again. Bud

I just wipe everything down with windex to neutralize the corrosive aspect, then clean as usual. Don't let the rifle sit overnight without cleaning. Chitownguy55

Since it is 1951vintage it might even have pure copper jacketed projectiles. The Turks switched from steel jacketed to copper jacketed sometime in the early 1950's. Are the projectiles silver or copper colored? Does your local range prohibit all FMJ rifle ammo or just steel jacketed rifle ammo? __________________________ "Oro En Paz, Fierro En Guerra" um, yeah, right.
