Signing C&R License |
Lead | |
|
Someone told me the C&R License copy I send should be signed in red so it can't be xeroxed. Is this true. Thanks!

I always sign mine in blue ink. As long as black ink isn't used they will be able to see that your signature is not a copy. Black ink makes it impossible
to tell if it is a signed copy, or copies of a signed license.
Of course now that they allow faxed copies of your license it really doesn't matter too much. Jim NRA Life Member Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. --- Thomas Jefferson. |

I always sign mine on top of a soft surface. That way the pen makes a clear impression through the back of the paper and you can tell immediately that it is a
real signature rather than a photocopy.

Just remember to not sign the original.

I leave my original in the envelope it came in so it doesn't get mixed up.

I have scanned my license in at high resolution so I just print as needed.

Can you sign multiple copies or do you have to sign in person when making a purchase? |

I would say if you are making an 'in person' purchase, wait until during the transaction to sign the copy of your license. IIRC, the initial intention
of signing a copy in red, or any color for that matter, was to insure the signature was an original signature.

I do like FLHunter and write "File Copy" on it before I give it to them.

welcome to the forum rubenk31,
i bought a big pack of multi colored pens & after i sign the ffl i write file copy red ink or green ink or purple ink depending on what color pen i pick up when i get ready to sign it. i've never had a ffl refused for using blue ink but i've had several sellers state that they only accepted red ink

I carry two unsigned copies in my wallet. I also scanned a signed copy, in color, that I attach to an Email to the vendor. I've only done that once, so
we'll see if others will accept it.
