Hey all, be sure to vote in the two polls. The results should be interesting. So far they are both roughly 50/50.

I like it. If more churches and schools would open their doors to CCW, we would have less of these radical killings in these
places, such as the recent killing of abortionist George Tiller. He deserved to die, but not this way. A perpetrator doesn't care about breaking the law,
he already has that on his mind as he plans a killing. He also knows he will have no resistance. BUT if he suspected that the pastor, deacons or anybody else
might have a gun, he wouldn't be so brave.
Anybody here remember J. Frank Norris? Not likely. He died in 1952. He was a gun totin' preacher. He was a highly controversial Baptist Pastor, a fierce opponent of Communism, Catholicism, liberalism, liquor traffic, horse racing and evolution, and was acclaimed to be one of the twentieth century's outstanding leaders of Bible fundamentalism. He pastored First Baptist Church in Fort Worth for several years. founding of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary there. He had many enemies on both sides of issues, his church burned by arsonists, threats made against him and contracts on him. Supposedly he carried a gun into the pulpit. Several pastors nowadays have bodyguards. But when you talk about gun totin' preachers, J. Frank Norris' name always comes to mind. When all else fails, BLAME BUSH! |

J. Frank Norris Did NOT found Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary! He did try to take it over and failed and then left the Southern Baptist convention in
a huff much to the pleasure of the SBC. Benjiman Harvey Carroll found the Seminary in 1908.

Even the most anti gun politicians have bodyguards with guns! Anyway, I knew that you would agree. I often said that if CCW's were allowed on aircraft with
their guns on there person, 9/11 would have been just another day.

Norris founded the Premillennium Baptist Missionary Fellowship among like-minded independents. A struggle for control of the group by men who resented his
authoritarian methodology led to the formation of the Baptist Bible Fellowship and the World Baptist Fellowship (Norris' group).

wapari wrote:Wayne, 2 things about your comments, first Rossie O'Donnell who we all know is anti gun, about 6 or 7 years was caught not hiring a body guard because he could not carry, and then tried to justify it by telling everyone it is different. Next my Dad for years has said they should give handguns out on planes like they hand out pillows and cokes, and even if a bad guy got a gun handed to them there going to be 100 other you will shoot back, so most likely they will not do anything. Now as for carrying, well I carry just about every where, and yes even church. In NC they say you can not carry in any place that is mass gathering of people, well my small church is hardly worth calling a mass gathering, but look at the Doctor in Kansas, I am sure he thought church was pretty safe place to be.\ Next Wayne, not sure if you got my e-mail, but I flew over your house the other day and no one was home, so we went down the beach and saw a few topless chicks instead. |

Brandon, 2 things back. First, I remember that episode with Rosie. She is a nutcase and not the only one! Next, your Dad is right on but not everyone knows how
to handle a gun, so the benefit may be outweighed by the incompentence. That is the other extreme. That scares me too. Yes, I carry just about everywhere and I
know I am not the only one. I guess that I am a law breaker too. The only place I don't carry is when I know that there is law enforcement present, and
they have one so I don't feel the need.
Well, I got the email and yes we were out most of the week. Glad you found it from the air. There is enough room to land in the back yard. Stop in sometime and have lunch. Better yet, pick me up. I may be on base either the 16, or 18 of June for a C-130 flight. Also, I could be returning some equipment the following week as I have a mission on the 23rd to pick up C-130 droppings. That's a really big bird and a messy job. Are you around any of those days? Ricky went throught the Panama Canal. He is now training to be on the boarding team. Pirate training and he will have to carry a gun.

Paul, I stand corrected on who founded the Seminary, but Norris did help Carroll in its founding. Norris did stay in SBC though for several more years. I
first became acquainted with him (not personally, but historically) in studying the Independent Fundamental movement. So he is praised among the Indy Fundies,
and SBC history treats him negatively. That's history written in perspective. He is known for stealing churches, which is a valid claim, and one I
don't appreciate. He pulled a lot of churches out of SBC when he made his move. I'm sure some of the stories are embellished, but he was known by both
SBC and Indy/Fundies as a pistol packing preacher. Yes, he was a controversial figure.
Getting ready for vacation. Must remember to check the states we will be travelling through on CCW laws. When all else fails, BLAME BUSH! |
