Posts: 5 (06/07/09 1:51 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Hello all, I just recieved my first walnut K31, and first for a troop tag! 523276 - If my figures are right, it should have been made about Feb of 1934. The 3266th rifle made!! (or at least what I'd like to imagine!!) The troop tag puzzles me somewhat, maybe someone could help me with it. It shoots alot better than my 1948, with a much nicer trigger pull (from wear I'd think). There is hardly any bluing left on the reciever or end of the bbl, and the beaver has been to the stock, but she is one of my greatest treasures.....(from my gunsafe!) It came with a very nice 1940 sling. But no muzzle cap : ( And the stock date of Jan 1934.... And finally, we have enough K31's for a stack!! I got so excited over my 34' that I totally neglected my 48' in the picture taking dept....

Can't come up with anything on the middle line with the exception of a small town called St Brais, but nothing on what looks like Nivey. As for the last word Murters, there is a moutain in Switzerland called the Piz Murtera. Wouldn't that put his service about 1954.... that's what confused the heck out of me....

That tag is a puzzle, I can't make anything out of that last name and that address (or maybe a hotel or pension's name) is unknown either, what I can make of it is Kurt, the place Murten and the first company of the 17th battalion of mountain fusileers based in Freiburg which is close to Murten. The action's bluing is worn enough to have seen two periods of service. It has a arsenal stamp of 57. I was baffled by the inconsistant inspecters stamp on the bbl, untill I learned what the 57 was. I'm guessing it got a new bbl then. I just took it apart and gave it a good cleaning tonight. The stock and bands all match the serial. One thing that I did notice, was that the bolt serial is stamped very deep, like on my 48'. The side of the reciever on this rifle has a light serial. Was this common for early rifles?

I'll bet some great moments was had with both. Thats a great looking stack also. Your Pard: LoLo Collector of fine Mauser, Mosin and Swiss rifles.
