Way to go. Someday I'll tell you about the time I took a teenager hunting who was ADHD.

Worked tonight with my youngest on learning how to reload 30-06 brass. She helped me set up a new die set I bought, and she actually seemed to really get it. I
let her keep one with no primer or powder but with bullet installed. She was lubing my cases, and even sized a few, not bad for a six year old.
Wont let her be there when we prime for a while, but she is real interested. I am ordering 30carbine chamber inserts for their 30-06 1917s so they can get started on them sooner. Here are the rifles in question I did for my little ladies. Both are Winny 1917s that were sported part way when I got them(not very good jobs and not done) I cleaned them up and made the front and rear rings level for the scope mounts. I blued them cut the barrels back and further modified the stocks to fit the girls. Both still have the original vintage stock and barrels that are in good shape.

losok, could you give us a close up of that bolt? I've got a Talley, very long, and I'm not satisfied with it... looking for ideas.

Thor, that is the factory bolt, I have found they work well on the 1917s even with larger scopes. I love that action, its sooo strong, and really is very
smooth once you get used to the charge(program does not like the other word)on close nature of it. I have one in 300WM, that will soon go back to 30-06, as I
now have a standard bolt for it, its really a P14 Brit, but seems like it will work ok in 30-06 with the new bolt and barrel. I really just dont need a 300,
especially with my new 30-06 load.

Those are some nice looking guns. That is one of the few remington actions that I like. I would rather have a 300WM on the P14 than the mauser that I have but
it was a cheapie when I bought it.

I started taking my niece & nephew - 10 & 11 - shooting in the summer of 2007. We have gone out 3 more times since then and got weathered out on the
4th time last Nov. They enjoyed it so much that I gave the girl a Henry 22 lever and the boy an SKS for Christmas in 07, along with a good supply of ammo. By
Aug when I was back up they had shot it all up so I gave them some more.
Over the 4 times I have taken them out - would have been more often, but they live 6 hrs from me - they have shot about 40 different weapons - American, German, British & ruskie - ranging from a Ruger Bearcat to a BAR and everything in between. The girl doesn't like the full power rifles like a Garand or 98k Mauser altho she does OK with an FN FAL. Also does pretty good with a Thompson. Yep, I got them both hooked, Quick!
