Think I will head out to the beach today.
Actually we are in the low 40's right now and that is cold for Florida. |

Awe shucks, I don't guess I get to complain about our one degree. Alan, I think we need to go to Florida and drag John off the beach and back up here for a
few days. Put him out in a deer stand, say about 30 feet up should do it.
Frankly, I kinda hope we have a record setter. Then ask Al Gore about his global warming. Obama's Appointments remind me of a scripture... Song 2:15 "Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines"

Hot Water Trick | ||
|
Man have you guys got it good. It was -23 F this morning when I got up at 5:00 . Have any of you ever done the hot water trick? It works best when its -20 or
lower. Take a cup of boiling water and toss it into the air. It instantly vaporizes. Kinda neat little parlor trick. I usually take the cup out of the
microwave and head straight to the door. Do not dawdle. You want the water as hot as you can get it and toss it way up in the air. ( just the water, hang on to
the cup) NH

Its cooled off here a bit . . . | ||

It was around 34 F and cloudy this morning when I got up at 6:15 to let out the dog. Now its 10:30 am, sunny, and should get up to around 60 F by mid
afternoon. They are forcasting a high of 68 F on Monday so I suppose our cold spell will be short this month. Gotta love SE NM in the winter.

It was neg 16 here early this AM, its now -3, not sure it will make it to zero. I was out splitting wood early this morning, did not seem all that bad except
my snot kept freezing in my nose. I am now again just in and at -3, it seems like a heat wave. Got the wood stove going to get the shop warmed up, decided last
night to just focus on keeping the house warm, so today its back out in the shop to clean up the turkfield project among other work.

Sorry folks. Cold sucks. It's been in the 70's and 80's here for a few days. All sunny and summer like. For some reason we seem to usually get a heat have in mid-Jan. |

It's 18 now and not expected to rise much for a couple of days, in fact will be 10 tonight. So our ice is here to stay a few days. Hey Velv, last time I was in Northern Virginia we stopped in Middletown and ate at this little place called the Civil Cricket. They were closing up for the
night but let us in and fixed us a real nice meal anyways. If you are ever in the area I would suggest you give em a try. nh

Haven't you heard? Geithner's first official act as Treasury Sec. will be to add on all currancy " In Barack We Trust" and get rid of that

Its in the teens again here, and now its snowing like crazy, so hard I cant see across the street. We are supposed to get about 10 inches tonight through mid
day on Wed. Good news is we are north of the ice line for this one, that is supposed to stay about 40 miles south of us. I have the gas for the Generator on
hand just in case as usual, and I split a whole truck load of wood and got it under cover today. It will be a good couple days to stay in the shop and work
away the day since I got a new heater out there that puts out 60000BTU I should be able to stay warm.

All that snow is hitting us right now. They are talking up to 20 inches and that wind is really blowing. I hope the wife makes it up the hill so I don't
have to go out and get her

Spoke too soon, we got two inches of snow then the ice hit about 1/2inch here, then snow again, about 7 inches on top of the other mess underneath. What a
mess, schools closed today, and the news just in they are in for tomorrow too. Glad my repairs to the snowblower worked, my screwed up shoulder would not have
made it shoveling. Oh well now its just cold and getting colder, supposed to get in the single digits again. Man I hope you dont get the full 20 inches, that
would stink bad.

We've got the same mess. Started with just enough freezing rain to cause problems, then sleet and snow. Let up and more sleet and snow. Wife checked into
a motel across from the hospital where she works. (20 miles from home). After 3 days, I was glad to see her make it home tonight. We managed to get her car
over the hump the snow plow favored us with, but now I'll have to dig her out during her two days off. Hope we don't get any more til I get her dug
out. The old 82 4x4 Dodge is the only thing that is sure to make it out. We're having a warming spell, up to 21 degrees. Supposed to drop to 10 and then up
to 30 tomorrow.
Shucks, even ole Pepperbelly's getting a taste of this down in Dallas. This has been some kind of storm. Even Obama's kids had school cancelled. He couldn't understand it. They don't shut down for nuthin in Chicago. "The nature of your faith is wrapped in the object of your faith" David Jeremiah

Decision to push troops on the Russian front was a grave mistake, not that the Russians were stronger, but more adapted to Winter. Of course, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. History well records his mistake. It's interesting how decisions such as this can change world history. I'm not a great student of Napoleon, but he did meet his defeat in Waterloo. Could he have gone another direction? Or what if Belshazzer had been vigilant instead of having a drunken party while the Persians dammed up the Euphrates, rerouting the river. Then Darius marched his troops up the dry river bed and through the watergate, taking Babylon in a day. Or what if Julius Caesar had seen his enemies Cassius and Brutus coming and removed them from threat. Yes, little mistakes change the course of history.
