I have a possible type 38 carbine that my son inherited from his great grandfather. The stock has been sporterized and the front sight was remover. I'd
like to replace the front sight and possibly replace the stock . I downloaded the data sheets to send to Frank, but was unsure if he still did verifications. I
was wondering if it was possible to email the sheets. I also looked online for a replacement sight, but all I found was a site that was sold out. Any help
would be appreciated.

A stock will be tough to find. Front sight maybe. Post you serial number, and a picture if possible.

The serial number is 654. It also is a type 44. I had to remove the scope base. I thought it kinda odd that it did not have any evidence of the mum. This may
be due to it being such an early model. There is also no series number, so it must be a first edition. It has the other marks that are supposed to be on it,
which leads me to believe they haven't been removed. As to the front sight, it would have to be modified to be used with a sporter stock since it was
integral with the original two piece stock.

There are three variations and three different stocks. The front sight is all but impossible to find. I hoarded a front sight for over 40 years before needing
it. I found one T44 stock on ebay years back and a front bayonet and housing in a pawn shop. So it can be done but its slow. A top hadguard can be made from a
T99 handguard. If you are young you might get it together. riceone.
