'Rednecks for Obama' - No kidd'in y'all there be some over yonder. |

SAINT LOUIS, Missouri (AFP) - When Barack
Obama's campaign bus made a swing
through Missouri in July, the unlikeliest of supporters were
waiting for him -- or rather two of them, holding the banner: "Rednecks for Obama."

those aren't rednecks. there's not a single budweiser can on the ground, no squirrel cooking on a campfire, not even a camp fire, they don't have
their wives & girlfriends names tattooed on their forearms & most importantly they are not wearing nascar hats

Well since we have had the assorted bailouts and we aren't in hysterics would it be in error to accept that we are all Socialists now and we could declare
ourselfs
Socialists for McCain?

A friend of mine emailed the link to me some time ago. I know plenty of Dairy Farmers that fit that exact bill! I'm not sure why that surprises people
here, but oh well.

Most of the posts to this topic seem to be in the humorous rather than the surprised vein. I think people are just plain having fun with it. The intentional
misspellings and T.V. "Hayseed" talk should clue one in.

I know you don't know very much about the dairy industry (although you will claim to), but the subsidies, the way they are set up right now work against
the dairy farmers in Wisconsin and work to the benefit of California dairy farmers.
Here is the scenario (assuming you want to learn something): the government sets minimum prices for milk, based on the farm's distance from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, which is in the heart of dairy country. (This system was set up many years ago when transportation and milk storage technology was vastly different than it is now.) Theoretically, the price was based on how much shipping milk from Eau Claire would cost if supplies were not available locally. Milk for drinking was worth between one and two cents more per gallon for every 100 miles from Eau Claire. Under this policy, farmers in Texas or California were paid more for milk than Wisconsin dairy farmers. And processors had to pay at minimum a regional price set by government guidelines. Milk has been the only commodity for which the agriculture secretary can dictate the minimum price to be paid a farmer. As a result, legislators from Wisconsin have been trying for years, to no avail, to change that subsidy regime. So as you can see, the subsidies actually hurt Wisconsinites.

Arch, I may not have been raised on a dairy, but I know far more than you think I do. So get off your high horse. I have friends and family in the dairy, chicken, cattle and farming industry, that are just as informed as you are. Bottom line is the Democrats want more intervention in our lives, always have, always will. The more they mess with things, the more powerful they become but the people lose. Since you are entrenched in it, I doubt you will ever see that.

"Milking it for all its worth!" That's a good one. And since we seem to be straying from the funny to the serious I'll put my self out on a
limb and state that I know more about sheep and goats, being raised around them than dairy cattle.(:
By the way. What did the Dairyman's son say her mother said the first time he was caught with his girlfriend out behind the barn? Answer: She said "Moooooouuuhh... |
