how do you mark a receiver crest or serial number? |

Sometimes on a receiver a serial number or crest or type that has been stamped is filled in usually in white to stand out. How is this done?

IIRC, Brownells sells a gold color filler.
Another option is to use a white crayon, I think the cheaper ones worked better than the name brand. After filling the depression, you may need to clean the surrounding area up by wiping. This isn't permanent. |

I clean the area with Wally World carburator cleaner and a toothbrush, dry, then I use a light dab of Testor's white model paint in the markings. I let it
dry thoroughly. Then I spray some carb cleaner on a clean rag and wipe away the areas around the crest/serial/armory markings leaving the paint in the
engraving or stamp. I have to spray the rag and use a clean area for each dab of wiping otherwise the wiped paint will spread. Works for me and oil/solvent
doesn't sen to bother the paint.
