The follower matches the floor plate(662x). The bolt assembly matches itself (467x) and then the rest of the rifle and stock all matches (403x) and the sling is (195x).

As far as numbers on the left side of stock? no....but it does have matching number on bottom of the stock in between the pistol grip and butt.
It reads the serial number going left to right then below that what appears to be a h or n over a K running up and down and below that a imperial war eagle.

My camera is acting up so I cant post a picture right now.

On the right side of the stock are 3 stamps running up and down, the top is a Nazi war eagle then 2 imperial war eagles both with a WaA63 underneath each eagle.

There are NO import marks. I looked using a 3x opti-visor.

You are correct in that the bolt/floor plate/follower being mismatched were typical characteristics of what are often referred to as the "Romanian Imports" from the early 90's.

Those rifles came from Romania but there is no way to know if they were used by Romanians or Germans during the war. Most likely they were simply left over or captured pieces that were never "reconditioned" like the RC's.

You are also correct in that the Romanian imports were import marked and, most often, had the German markings GOUGED. An earlier Weimar marked rifle like this might have escaped that feature but it would still have an import marking.

So, it seems that you have a VERY NICE pre-war 98k with MM bolt/FP and TG. It COULD have been a pre-68 import or a "vet" bring back but there is no way to tell for sure. What I can say is that you have a very nice rifle and what should be considered a keeper as it has lovely wood.
