I picked up, what I believe is a rare k98 commecial that I think was put together in 1945 for the Volkstrum. It is similar to the one in Law's book but has some intersting differences. The receiver is marked BCD 43 with the same barrel markings as in Law's book. The differance is that mine has a hard wood stock, no take down lug, flat butt plate and smaller cutout for the bolt handle and is unmarked with a great finish. The bolt is late war with round gas holes. Barrel is dated 12/44, ser. # matches receiver ser #.. Barrel bands late war welded. Rear sight is a WW1 roller coaster. Looks unfired and is in GREAT condition. Do any members here have one like it or have any other information on these K98s? I would like to compare it to another one. I will post pictures if anyone is interested.
