if you were looking for a 17 centerfire go with the 17 rem. cases are easy to find and barrel life will not suffer.

the easiest way is to solder a bushing to the boltface & extend the tip of the extractor by tig welding then shape it to grab the .223case.

you can also have the bolt face welded up the recut for a .223. do a search for odies dad, he has one that was welded up & recut.\
