I may be shipping a C & R long gun to California. Its been a long time since I did that, and I am wondering if there is anything special I need to do, or is it the same as the free states of the Union as far as C&R regs go?

C&R selling

I am new to C&R (or will be when they get it to me) and I was wondering about selling the guns that I get. I read through the rules and it says that you cannot be in the business of buying and selling but you may dispose of the guns as you wish. I have been wanting to buy some Tokarevs and want to buy maybe three and keep the best two. If I were to buy them and sell the one that I don't like as much would I be in trouble? I have had a C&R license now for like 4 years. I love it and the opportunities it has afforded me. I recently called ATF because I was curious on how a non-licensee such as my dad or a friend could buy or be given one of my firearms, purchased under the C&R. This guy tells me to do form 4473, and call in a background. My CC was charged on 7/18, finally received my C&R on 8/29. Seemed like forever. I knew there was no problem getting it, just a matter of when.

Can't wait to start sending out the copies to various merchants.

PS: I'm in Indiana.

Well its been 5 weeks and no renewal in the mail yet. I sent the paper work out about 5 weeks ago. I assume the hold up is a backlog of them i hope i know they got my money ha ha. Just thought id post this in response to those that have gotten theirs quickly your lucky.

I received my renewal application forms yesterday and got the completed forms with payment to BATF and the copied document to my CLEO off in today's mailing. My current C&RFFL expires on October 1. We'll see how long it takes for the renewed license to arrive.

Six weeks later after my first request on the ATF website (5/31 to 7/ 13), I got the application. Now to start filling it out and sending it back!

Hello...

I am a C&R license holder and have been for several years. The expiration date on my license is, I believe, November 1st. As I recall in the past, I got the renewal form in the mail, in advance of the expiration date, and didn't have to get a renewal form on my own, and all that. I would send it in and I never remember any particular problems in getting it back.

Is that still current practice? If I don't get the form in the mail, when should I...

Does having a C&R license guarantee a visit from the ATF?

In my flyer from SOG Inter. they say handgun shipping can now go 2nd day air. Anyone know about this. I believe they use UPS....

Finally!!! I mailed out my application on 2 Feb 09 and got it 6 Apr 09. Eight plus weeks. I did notice on the ATF website that they have been transfering operations to a new location, and being a federal employee I guess I can cut them a little slack on the slow response. The good news is I Got It!

Intrastate shipping

If a firearm is to be shipped out of state it has to go to an FFL holder, either class 1 or C&RFFL.
The following is from the BATFE site on shipping within your state.

B7) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?[Back]

A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service...

Hi, I recently received my C&R. I sold an antique revolver on-line (to raise money for a Luger). Can I just take this to my UPS hub, show them, my C&R and the purchaser's C&R? Or do I have to go through a gunshop/FFL holder? Thanks!

Illinois c&r Question

Illinois law exempts ffl from certain sections of that law. the ffl issued under federal regs that is quoted in Illinois statutes include c&r licenses section as i read it. can anyone tell me if i am interpreting this right?

Not even a e mail responce to my C&R request... I have a current clearance with the US Government and I would think this should be a non issue, I just wated to get another C&R after maybe 7 years of letting mine go... All I want to buy some C&R WW2 rifles for my collection.....Grrrrr

Home Visit by the ATF

When I arrived home from work on Friday, my wife informed me that a representative from the BATF called on our home this afternoon. He hand delivered a letter to her that was addressed to me. He told her that he knew I have guns because I have a C & R license. He also told her not to be concerned by his visit because he is not from the division of the ATF "that kicks-down doors" when they go to someone's house.

It would seem that the new rule books we receive once a year have been changed to a CD ROM. This should save the government a ton of money plus make it faster for us to access. It can also be downloaded from the ATF website as well. If a printed book is prefered, you are asked to contact the ATF.
