Though not a war movie in the traditional sense, opens with a P40 Warhawk and later has a M3 Grant (tank). I'm talking about the 1979 movie with Dan Akroid(spelling?) and John Belushi.
I liked the whole movie, but liked the part when the Japanese sub commander says something like, "we've got to blow the crap out of something big."

Just finished reading this book. It complements Band of Brothers by presenting an overall account of the U.S.Army from the beaches of Normandy to the surrender of Germany. Great reading.

by Eric Haney. I thought it was a great book. There is a disturbing part about 125 POW's still alive in the hands of the North Vietnamese in 1981. I didn't realize, until reading the book, how Bo Gritz messed up Delta Forces chance of rescuing them.

Not only is this movie funny, but it has curios and relics in it. There are several graphic scenes in it though.

very good series. i started reading it about halfway through & now i'm going to have to order the first 15 books to see what i missed.
basically its about what happens after the liberals take over worldwide, disarm all the civilians, then world war comes & destroys all of the governments. followed by plague. then bands of thugs & warlords roam the planet making it hard on the disarmed citizens.
a few people kept their guns & start fighting back creating a new...

There is a new book on Browning pistols that should become available about the middle of August. "FN Browning Pistols; Side-Arms that Shaped World History", by Anthony Vanderlinden.
I talked with Mr. Vanderlinden at length yesterday and placed an advance order for the book. He said that shipping of first orders is anticipated to start August 15th. This book has been in the works for several years and I believe it will surpass the information in his first book on the subject,...

Glen Becks version is very enlightening, and Thomas Paines original is reprinted at the end. Read both and you will see there are many similarities between the 1700's and the 2000's

Just saw the Johnny Depp gangster flick "Public Enemies."
Lots of good shots (no pun intended) of the B.A.R. (not sure which variant) and surprisingly Thompson's without the typical gangster drum magazine.
But what was the pistol that the "Baby Face" Nelson character shot the cop in the car with in the road fleeing from the motel in the woods (Bohemian something or other). It seemed to be fully auto. And I'll confess my ignorance of civilian C&R's...

The Gun Digest Book of Firearms, Fakes and Reproductions by Rick Sapp.

I highly recommend this book for the beginning collector. If you are fully aware of crisp markings, dishing, every thing can be faked, how 98% of Colt SAA's have been altered and so forth, then the book would be a good reminder read. The author expands the book by going into the care of your firearm. He explains why linseed oil should not be used on wood and what should be used on the metal parts of a firearm...
