Hi...I'm Thud and I'm an addict...

Number 4 is in pieces right now getting a good scrubbing (most cosmo i've seen on one gun) After which I will post pictures of my fourth (and last - says my wife) Yugo.

I have not been to a gun show in about two years, and I was pretty amazed at the prices at a local one. $700.00 for a Chinese "Paratrooper" carbine, $350.00 to $480.00 for a Yugoslavian SKS, and $500.00 for a Chinese "Standard" SKS. Are these prices normal? Also, as an aside, an M-1 Garand in I would say Field Grade condition, $1350.00.

This is getting to be a habit. I bought my first one in May, picked up my second in June, and I bought this one in July...I wonder what August will bring?

I got this baby from the same shop in Billings as the first one. This one has a really smooth stock with only minor bumps near the front sight,

UPS delivered another fine Yugoslavian firing stick to my door on Thursday. At first I couldn't remember ordering a long box of cosmoline...But the more I cleaned the more appeared from out of the goop.

Ok, so I've given up trying to understand my wife. A couple of weeks ago I asked her (you'll notice I asked prior to...) if I could buy another Turkish Mauser for sale by one of our members on the forum. difference of yugo sks vs. russian or chinese sks

hi, just got my license so please bear with me if i ask a stupid question or two. is there any difference between yugo vs. russian,chinese, romanian sks's as far as accuracy, durability, etc. because the barrel isn't lined with chromium? since there is over $100 difference in price is there really that much difference in shooting characteristics from each other. thanks

24/47 Accurizing

Hi,

I'm planning on getting a 24/47 for my birthday next month. Looks like a good rifle for the price, arsenal rework, like new bore, etc.

I would like to know what can be done to accurize the rifle and keep it in it's military stock? Should I bed the action, barrel or both? Free float? Any thoughts would be most welcome.

sks scope mounts ?

Hey guy's, fabber39 here, was wondering what's the opinion of the forum about the sks scope mounts ? I'm talking about the ones that Centerfire Systems has on sale for $24.99 mount, and scope. I'm needing a little extra help, bad eyes, and tiny deer. I was wondering about the wandering zero that some people have with them ? I need all the help I can get. Can't afford a new rifle, just trying to make do with what I got.

I am the proud new owner of a Yugo M-48. I've wanted one ever since they were first imported. Now I got one and all it cost me was a Mossberg 46m. I think it was a fair trade.

Loading Problem

I have not posted on this forum in a long time. Many thing's have happened over the last year or so. I hope to become more active again soon. I do have a question regarding one of my M24/47's It's the rifle in the Header pic actually. I was shooting it in an obsolete bolt match at a club in Phoenix recently and I experienced a problem I've never had before. I was unable to charge five rounds from a stripper clip. I could get four in but the fifth simply would not go in....

I'd say this 24/47 definitely has "been there, seen & done that." Somebody may have had a baad day.

This is in the barrel channel. A chunk of metal, grenade or shell...

Stock Fit ?

Am looking at a few stocks to sporterize my 24/47, Will a stock from a 48 fit on the 24/47 action The spread between the bolts is 7 &3/4" aprox. vs. 8 " on my Std. 98s , Anyone know what the spacing on a 48 is . Richards Has several stocks designated for that.

24/47 bayonet frog

Figured that I'd accessorize the 24/47 that I picked up last year. Samco is offering an accessory kit so that's what I went with. Problem is that at first glance I don't see the scabbard fitting in the frog that they sent me. Can anyone point me to possibly a picture of what the frog 'should' look like?

By the way, the bayonet and scabbard that I received are in very good condition. The bayonet doesn't even appear to have had a final edge put on it....

Preference24/47 or48 for sporterizing?

ZRAK Scopes

Does anyone out there know where I can purchase a ZRAK scope. I have a Yugo M-48 and would like to put a 4X scope cammed for the 8mm on it. There used to be a guy on ebay that sold zrak mounts and scopes ( I purchased the mounts from him- very nice mounts) but he is no longer on ebay or at least I can't find him on it any more. Anyone out there know where I can find this scope. Thanks for the help in advance.

Sporterizing/Rechambering a M48 Yugo

Just picked up a second M48 to sporterize (First one was way to nice to alter). I would like to change calibers but I am concerned about the intermediate length action. Does anyone know what is the largest caliber that the M48 could be converted to? I was thinking about a 338-06. Also has anyone had any experience with the Zrack scope mounts for the M48? Do they allow clearance for the bolt to operate correctly without any alteration?

Scopeing a Yugo 48

I have a Yugo 48 and have been thinking about putting a scope on it,my eyes are getting real bad and can not see 50 yard target.
I have the one piece mount and some high rings my question is, well the bolt clear the high rings and rear bell of the scope when I pull it back to eject spent round and load a new one or well I have to bend boult handle and carve out stock to fit the bent bolt handle or should I just buy a bolt conversion kit for a strait pull bolt and go with...
