I purchased my first Turk today, a K Kale rifle. ANKARA 1945 Ser #216XXX Non- matching What do I need to look for to find out more info? $85 Out the door w/1 box Yugo ammo

Well, tonight was a nice quiet afternoon, I got home from work at 5 and noone was home but me and the dog so, I decided to take my Turkish bolt apart and see if I could polish it up a little. I stripped it down and then began sanding the black haze off of it with medium grit emory cloth. Then I went back over it with fine grit and finished up with 0000 steel wool (left over from the stock refinish). I finally got a nice day to visit the range. Took the Turk out for it's maiden fire, also brought my Mosin Nagant 91/30 for it's first time, and sighted in my Ruger 77 and my daughter's Winchester Featherweight.

Since I'm in a posting mood, here's a couple of photos of my Turk with the sling I made for it. I still need to age the laces so they aren't so prominent but its a nice thick strap of leather and it feels good on the shoulder.

Worn barrel?

So I've been checking out the auction sites lately and noticed alot of sellers putting a bullet in the end of the rifle to show (I guess) the existing guage of the barrel. So, curious as I am, I tried it on my Turk...d*mn bullet went in up to the casing. Does this indicate an overly worn barrel? The barrel is dark with prominent rifleing. Is a Stripper clip a stripper clip?

A couple of quick questions: I'm seeing ads for 8mm ammo on "Yugo" stripper clips, German stripper clips, etc. are there different stripper clips? And the second question is: What is the view of this 196 grain "sniper" ammo that is up for sale with modern (90s) brass and powder and non magnetic bullets. I think it's Yugo ammo X75 or something like that. Is it safe for my Turk?

Thud's Turk After shots

I can't seem to get brighter or clearer shots today but here they are. The rifle looks so much better than these photos show. The dark shaded areas in the stock don't show up. ( the flash really shows the hidden cosmo deep in the wood) I didn't do any heavy sanding and the camera also points out the scratches and dings that you can't see when handling it. Ok, the rifle is coming along nicely, just have to finish the stock now and get some ammo. Next is the need to complete the package. Front site loose

While cleaning this Turk up, I found that the front sight band has broken free of the solder. Isn't there a screw underneath the drift? And, how do I get the drift off when the whole assembly keeps moving! Any ideas would be a great help. I have seen a setup in another forum where a C clamp is modified to adjust the drift, could this be used to remove it so I can get to the screw - tighten...

Hello all, Thud here,
I've been lurking in the shadows until this past week when I picked up this nice 1903 Turk. Since the photos it's been stripped to the bones, and de-cosmolined. The stock has also been stripped, and sweated in the oven. It looks alot better now. I can't decide what shade of oil to refinish the stock in, any suggestions?

I just picked up this 1944 KKALE short rifle on GB. Nice guy, lives in Fairfax, VA. I met him at the NRA Headquarters. If ya'all have never been to the National Firearms Museum, its worth a trip. Anyway, here is the short rifle.

Looks to be an unissued rebuild. I sanded the stock and refinished. It was this clean when it came.

Barrel for a Turkish Mauser

I have a Turkish Mauser. Its is a 1938/K.Kale, made in 1946. According to turkmauser.com, the serial number confirms this. The center to center dimension on the bottom plate screws is 7-7/8", suggesting large ring. I'm having trouble figuring out which stock will fit it. I've read that it is a large ring, but threaded small. What does that mean? Any help is appreciated. I'm new to Mausers but already find myself interested in thier...

I was wondering where I could find a middle band retaining spring and a screw that goes in front of the rear sight where it holds the handguard down on one of the 1930's restocked Turk 93 Mausers? Would this be one like for a regular 98 Mauser or what? Tenn. Gun Parts seemed to be out.

1888-05-38 Turk commission rifle parts needed

Does anyone know where I can get a magazine cartridge stop or connector for a 188-05-38 Turk built on a commision rifle receiver?

This is a blade/part that is similar to a Moison rifle ejector that holds the cartridges in the magazine, this part, a spring, and a spring screw was added after the En Bloc clip was obsoleted.

1943 K.Kale Long rifle

I just picked up a all matching K.Kale Long rifle # 1245XX with a pristene bore for $200, bluing is dark blue with no rust and about 95%, stock has minor dings and some oil soaking that I have been heating out.

Strangly it has brass screws for the buttplate, slingswivel, cleaning rod, and a brass center tube for the stock "firing pin tool" thruhole with steel flanges.

Overall about a 90% condition rifle that does not seem to have been issued for any use.
