Stripped, decosmo'd (Purple Power and heat gun treatment), reddish stain, tung oil. The pix don't do justice to the end result (too dark), nice woodgrain on the stock.

These eyes needed help from a scope mount setup(not permanent), 4X32.

Finnish M39 Bore size?

I just purchased an M39 Finn (Jalkavakikivaari) and it is my understanding that the barrels were .310 diameter. I've since read that there were some .3089 bores also produced. I'm going to slug the barrel to make sure. What I don't understand is why they made some of the barrels too small? Anybody slugged their M39's?

Mosin Stock Refinishing

I am considering refinishing my Mosin's stock. It currently has that reddish coating that it came with, which I think was just a storage coating. Any suggestions??? It is my favorite at the range.

Just got a "new" 91 30 from AIM. All numbers match, dated 1942 with the Tula mark. Checked headspace, and it is go. Bore looks very good to excellent (almost as good as my 30-06 Rem.700). Wood is good, has a small nick under bolt, but is very nice looking and no rust on metal. Will try to get pictures posted over the weekend and will try to get some shots out of it to see how it does if I can do what I need to do.

Hey all, I recently purchased a 91/59. I know it is a cut down version of the 91/30 but nothing more really.

have any info or tips? I own 2 other 91/30s so I have the basics but to be honest I bought this new one because two difrent people at the show said it was a good find. I have been getting good reviews from those I take seriously so it must be good, but I don't really know...

Took the Mosin out for it's first range visit. Also took my Turkish 03, my Ruger 77, and my daughter's Win 70.

First in the stirrups (notice the line attached to the trigger)

Picked up a really decent MN 91/30 at the local pawn shop today. I was buying a Ruger 30-06 I had on layaway and spied this one. Sling and bayonet was included, no oil can. It has a minor stock repair that is hidden by the lower sling belt. I'll post pictures soon.

Has anybody put a SVD scope on a Mosin Nagant 91/30? I found a bubbaised 91/30 for $50 and I already have a 8x42 SVD scope so I thought it might be interesting match up! has anybody tried this?

plese help out a newbie. i saw a specifications list for the m44 and m38 carbines that listed under ammo the 147gr light ball ammo only. can the carbines shoot the 182 gr heavy ball ammo? i know this is a dumb question but i need some help. thanks

OK , I plan on adding a 91/30 to my collection. Some dealers are stating that the supply is drying up, though I find that hard to believe. How many did the Russian produce? And face it, how many people in the US have bought one ? They are kinda the ugly duckling in the firearms world, as in they are not being hoarded for future custom sporters, ect. Don't get me wrong. Ive got a hex receiver M 91-30 with a standard receiver indicating it was made ay Preimer Tula Arsenal.
Then the stamp is CCCP next line 3TYME next line is the Date 1925. Can anybody tell me what the
3TYME means??

Im getting my M44 Sporting rifle AKA Da Bubba squared away, and while I still have some improvements to make, I really want to focus on ammo consistancy once its complete. Upto this point, Ive only run Milsurp through my Mosins. As you well know Milsurp loads are inconsistant, and for the most part when it comes to 7.62x54r, corosive as well. So Im going to be using some name brand ammo, but am unsure wich direction to go. Im a die hard Federal man, have been sence I was a lil guy, but...

M39 question

I found a Finn M39 for sale online. It looked pretty good, has a unit disc on the stock and a hang tag.
I asked about the bore condition and the seller said it was bright and shiny, but the lands and grooves were worn. He said there is no pitting.
I sent another question just now asking how much wear there was on the lands and grooves.

How much is acceptable? I want an accurate shooter, not a wall hanger.
The price is pretty good. What do ya'll think?

Hi. I'm brand new to this forum so I thought I'd introduce myself and ask a question. So far, my MILSURP collection is pretty limited; mainly because my knowledge is pretty limited. So far I have a 1916 1891, a 1934 91/30, and a 1945 M44.

My question is about the serial number on my 91/30. I bought it at a pawn shop where the guy told me it was a Norinco. I guess he thought the star was a Chinese...
