Hello everybody,

Can anybody tell me if the Carano M38 was used during the WWII battles in North Africa (El Alamein) or did the Italian Army only had the M91???

WWI Carcano bayonet

I have a WWI 1891 Carcano long rifle (1917), and I want to equip it with the correct bayonet and scabbard. But all the Carcano bayonets look the same to me! How do I identify a WWI bayonet? What codes, or other identifying marks should I be looking for?

Hey Guys,
I just found a bayonet for my cav carbine, but now I need
thescrew and spring for it. I know it's going to be hard
finding an original one, but I seem to remember someone
on the boards making repro's. Does anyone remember who
it was?

Back in the 1950s I acquired a small folding bayonet and metal scabbard at a "old time" army surplus store. It was 40 years later with the advent of the Internet that I found out the little bayonet fit the Italian Model 1938 Carcano and I naturally had to have the rifle that fit the bayonet (at least thats what I told my wife).

I went to a gun show last Saturday and the only thing I found was a 1936 Carcano carbine.

FNA Brescia 6.5

Century marked but it looks good.

I was at a writers conference and he gave a detailed roport on the Kennedy killing. Ye, one man, get over it. The rifle Oswald used was one of the better built Carcano's and it has grouped 5 rounds in a 2 inch group at least 10 times from different testers.

Hello All

I wanted to get some feedback from those Vetterli collector's who actually shoot this rilfe and "live" to see another day. Options are about 50/50 as to whether or not these should be fired with modern loads,I shoot Mauser 71/84's and Lebel 1886's. Can't these Vetterli's be shot with proper
6.5 hand loads even if 140/150 gr?

I was just given an M1871/87/16 Italian Vetterli Bayonet vet bring back bayonet from my friends dad's estate and was wondering what the valus is? Looks like the blade was sharpened years ago and initials WF carved in grip, also missing release button but spring and screw in place.

Stampings on blade and ricasso of a Oval with crown over FT and Oval with BC or BG, 81 and dot astrix and #8 inside oh bayonet groove, no other markings I can find.

Just bought my first Italian: a Vetterli 1870/87/15 (Torre Annunciata 1878). Should I put it in the book? Does the WWI modification make it a C&R gun? Thanks for your assistance.

I recently purchased a sporterized Carcano carbine (I don't know which model yet, it hasn't arrived in the mail yet). I want to mount a scope on it, since it's already been bubba'd. I'm not too keen on offsetting the scope to the left, but I know it has to be done so the clips can be used. I was pondering this, when I found a posting on another message board about carcano magazine conversion. Apparently, it's possible to use the floorplate and trigger guard from a Type I rifle (made in Italy...

I got stuck with an 8mm M38, luckily at no great expense. Now that I have it, it seems like it might be worth tinkering a bit to see if it can be made to function as intended. I have been looking in vain for original Carcano clips that I could modify or use as a template, but, like every other item that I find I need, the once bounteous local supply has dried up, and I cannot find a commercial source that has them other than as a package deal with a rifle.

Any idea where I could find...

I know the Japanese 6.5 can be easily rechambered to 6.5x55; is it possible to rechamber the Italian 6.5 to 6.5X55 without setting the barrel back?

The rifle is in excellent shape but i cannot id the cal-can anyone help me with this .I am sure the id is right have found some marking,but was told the cal is stamped on the back of rear adjustable sight but stamped on it is A337 which is no help for the info i have found-was made in GARDONE VT.Has cleaning rod under barrel and a removeable bayonet-On barrel is stamped 1934-XII gardone valt rompia along with same on stock.any and all help will be thanked.
