mas built a few sporting rifles for civilians, they are very rare in the us.
i picked this one up a few months back. i've only seen pictures of three other ones. one identical to mine chambered in 10.75x68, one chambered in 9.3x62mm & one in the 7x54 french wildcat.
it should come in handy when those pesky water buffalos & elephants wander into my yard.

Bastille Day 2009

Here are a few pictures of the event that Tony and myself did for Bastille Day.
I am sorry the pictures are a bit dark but we were inside all day as it was 100 degrees outside and A/C was going so you can imagine where we stood around for the event ... Inside.
We had alot of people come visit us, there were a few gentleman who were in the French Army at one time, they liked my impression and knowledge on the WWI French poilu, weapons and equipment.

MAS 36 Range Report

I finally got some proper dies and have been trying loads in it. Loading data for it is pretty scare but some is out there you just have to look for it.
I have learned that it does not care for boatails they shoot very low. The 150 grain flat base shot well but to the right.
The best results have been with the Sierra 125 grain on 47 grains of H-414. They shot to the point of aim and I had a five shot group just under 2"
I am going the give H-380 and Varget a try next...

On a whim I went by Military Gun Supply on the way home from work and a MAS 36 followed me home very nice bore and wood Serial number M 21XXX. It came with the proper sling.

Hi all, I have noticed a 1907-15, T C Orman,Delaunay Betteuille mle, for sale,it looks abit diferent with a swedish m94 style front sight and full wood, I think it's a three shot, I read that these where turkish convertions, it seems in fair to good condition, they are asking $250.00 for it, is that fair ?, can anyone give me a run down on these? thanks , Martin.

Hello, I don't use this forum but I thought this is the place to go for info. I've acquired approx. 180 rnds. of what looks to be military ammo most still sealed in boxes and 4 new magazines for 7.5 MAS rifles. The box I got it in said 7.5 mm French MAS 49/56 I don't shoot this so it's for sale if anyone is interested. You can e-mail me thru my profile with questions or whatever. As I said this is no good to me but being a collector I thought someone here would like to have...

So, Ive done a search here and didn't find much. I am wanting to load 150 grain bullets for deer hunting here in PA. I have Lee's Modern reloading, but am looking for some more data. Thinking along the lines of IMR 4350 and H4895, because I have them. Some info I am finding shows radically different loads as max. I don't want to really cook them along. Moderate speeds is good with me.

Not the best tack driver. But man I love shooting my MAS 36. Just has A good sound, And it will put them where you want them fairly well. Found this one at A pawn shop among the 250 dollar or so sporter's. Got the MAS for 115 buck's. Just too ugly I guess.

I have here a Chassepot with no model or manufacturer code, would like to know if this is genuine or overcleaned ?

Inspection markings did survive and overall apearance is not overcleaned, all markings on other parts are clear.

Serial starts with D, so that would be "Manufacture Impriale d'Armes de Mutzig", date M 1868.

How to remove the firepin of a Gras rifle???

My Gras rifle came in yesterday and I want to change the fire pin. But how do you have to do that?? Is the backside of the bolt a screw??? If yes, I tried and tried again, but it was impossible to open it.

Is it possible to send some pics of a bolt, opened the way it has to??

Mag spring for 1886/93

If you need a mag spring for a 1886/M93 Lebel try a Wollf #65065 . It worked perfect. It comes as 40" and I cut it down to about 30". Now with shells in mag I get that "thud" when I closes the action.
